A MEETING OF THE MINDS X CAPE TOWN FURNITURE WEEK

Weylandts was proud to participate in Cape Town Furniture Week (CTFW) for the second year in a row, continuing our commitment to showcasing the power of collaboration in design. The event, held at Anna Weylandts’ new Castle Street space in Cape Town, encapsulated the spirit of creative partnership, blending design, culture, and innovation in a truly memorable evening.

The night was imbued with motifs and meaning, every element thoughtfully crafted to celebrate design in all its forms. Inspired by the corn motif featured in the design of the Sofa fabric, Studio H curated a playful and imaginative food experience. The menu included grilled corn disks with spicy ‘Nik Naks’ dust, a corn and bacon amagwinya pyramid, and caramel amakipkip ‘bracelets’, offering a delightful sensory interpretation of the design.

Alongside this unique culinary experience, Weylandtsudio designed a captivating interior installation that brought together the philosophies of both Weylandts and Thebe Magugu. The space was anchored by a monolithic plinth, where some of Weylandts’ locally crafted pieces sat atop black sand, creating a striking contrast between nature, design, and craftsmanship.

A true highlight of the evening was the window display, conceptualised and crafted by the Weylandts team in collaboration with Sanri Pienaar. The display was honoured with the Best in Show award at the CTFW Awards ceremony, a recognition that celebrates the beauty of collaboration and the excellence that occurs when creative forces come together.

We also had the privilege of hosting an in-depth panel discussion with Anna Weylandt and Thebe Magugu. Together, they explored the inspirations behind their work, the rich history that informs their designs, and the shared ethos and vision they have for the future of South African craft.

Their conversation offered a rare and insightful look into the intersection of design, culture, and heritage in South Africa, leaving all who attended with a deeper understanding of the meaningful journey both brands are on.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the Cape Town launch of the Weylandts x Thebe Magugu collaboration. Your support made the evening unforgettable, and we look forward to seeing you at CTFW 2026!
