Formed when ancient forests became buried beneath layers of volcanic ash and sediment, petrified wood gradually transforms from organic material into stone. Preserving the original grain and character of the timber, each piece bears the hallmarks of its journey through time, from natural fissures and textural variation to its distinctive stone-like quality.
