Do not use any harsh chemicals, abrasive powders, metallic scourers, silver or brass cleaners. If residue starts to leave marks apply wax polish regularly to shine.

Clean more regularly at the coast, as sea salts build up and could cause corrosion.

Apply a mist of soapy water with a spray bottle and work the solution into the rope with a soft cloth.
Blot and use slight pressure. Do not rub as this will loosen the fibres and abrade the rope.
