How to Care for Polypropylene
Crafted to last, our curated collection of outdoor carpets has been intentionally selected to tell the story of craft and longevity. Below are a few guidelines to ensure your piece retains its inert characteristics and continues to tell the story of your home:
Routine Maintenance
- Vacuum 1-2 times a week to prevent dirt buildup.
- Keep away from heaters as polyester fibres can melt.
- Shake to remove any stubborn dirt.
- Rotate carpet every few months to ensure even wear and fading.
Spot Treatment
- Immediately blot stains using mild soap and water or carpet cleaner. Avoid rubbing, as this may spread the stain.
- Shake to remove any stubborn dirt.
Deep Clean
- Hose down the surface of the carpet (at low pressure) to clean away dust/ dirt.
- Use warm soapy water to clean water-based stains. Oil based spills should be avoided as they are not easily cleaned.
- To remove oil based spills, a spray dry cleaning or textile cleaning solution for synthetic fibres is advisable
- Do not apply stain remover directly to the stain - use a damp clean cotton towel
- with cool water and squeeze out the excess. Tap the affected area gently with the damp towel.
- If stain is greasy or oily, a drop of mild detergent or textile cleaning solution for synthetic fabrics can be added to the damp towel.
- Acetone can be used if oil based stain is stubborn - Dip towel in acetone and tap around the affected area.
- Rinse out by using a clean damp sponge or towel and dry with a dry towel.
Important to Note
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading. Position your rug in shaded areas or use curtains/blinds to minimise exposure.
