How to Care for Leather and Stained Oak
Crafted to last, our curated collection of benches has been intentionally selected to tell the story of craft and longevity. Below are a few guidelines to ensure your piece retains its inert characteristics and continues to tell the story of your home:
Routine Maintenance of Leather
- Do not use any heat source to dry leather furniture. This will cause the leather to dry and crack.
- Our leathers do not require any hide food.
- Consider annual professional cleaning for optimal maintenance.
Spot Treatment
- Immediately blot spills. Avoid rubbing and use recommended cleaners.
- Use a slightly damp cloth for cleaning and avoid harsh detergents.
- Dust or lightly vacuum regularly to prevent damage.
Routine Maintenance of Stained Oak
- Use Weylandts Soft Wax as furniture polish and apply every few weeks.
- Use our maintenance oil annually to nourish the finish. This product must not be used on natural Oak.
- Exposure to sunlight will cause wood to fade.
- Changes in temperature and humidity can cause expansion and contraction of the timber, resulting in cracks.
Spot Treatment
- Immediately blot spills to avoid moisture penetration.
- Dust regularly and wipe with a slightly damp cotton cloth.
- Do not use any harsh chemicals to clean the timber surface.
Important to Note
As leather is used, it stretches and may develop wrinkles or dents, especially on larger panels. Natural temperature changes may cause slight movement. Knots, splits, cracks and colour variations are part of the natural characteristics of timber, making each piece completely unique.
