How to Care for Jute
Crafted to last, our curated collection of jute has been intentionally selected to tell the story of craft and longevity. Below are a few guidelines to ensure your piece retains its inert characteristics and continues to tell the story of your home:
Routine Maintenance
- Vacuum regularly using suction only to remove surface dirt and keep fibres in good condition.
- Dry cleaning is recommended
- Avoid placing outside in direct sunlight, keep in a shaded area.
- Rotate carpet every few months to ensure even wear and fading.
Spot Treatment
- Use a dry carpet cleaning powder and vacuum to treat spills or stains.
- Do not use water or liquid cleaners on the rug.
- Avoid placing in areas prone to spills or humidity.
Important to Note
Jute may "sprout" during general handling and everyday use. The short plant fibres of jute are especially susceptible to this. Trim loose fibres back to the surface pile using scissors or tuck/push loose ends back in place. Do not pull loose threads. After time, the fibres will settle and will require less cutting.
