How to Care for Kubu

Crafted to last, our curated collection of kubu have been intentionally selected to tell the story of craft and longevity. Below are a few guidelines to ensure your piece retains its inert characteristics and continues to tell the story of your home:

Routine Maintenance

• Gently wipe with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and surface dirt.
• For corners and crevices, use a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment.
• Wipe spills immediately and dry the surface thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and heat, as this can cause discolouration and brittleness.
• Keep away from rain and excessive moisture, which may cause warping and staining.
• If used outdoors, rattan furniture must be placed under cover in a sheltered area.

Spot Treatment

• For light stains, wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
• Avoid soaking the material or using excessive water.
• Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or scrubbing pads.
• If cracks appear over time, apply a small amount of linseed oil with a soft cloth to help rehydrate the material. Allow it to absorb fully and wipe away any excess.

Important to Note

Inherent variations in the fibre, as well as subtle differences from the hand-weaving process, are natural characteristics of loom. These variations are  celebrated, as each piece is unique and no two items are the same.
