How to Care for Teak
Crafted to last, our curated collection of boards has been intentionally selected to tell the story of craft and longevity. Below are a few guidelines to ensure your piece retains its inert characteristics and continues to tell the story of your home:
Routine Maintenance
- Sponge product with the foam of a mild water and dishwashing liquid mixture. Over time, the timber absorbs the soap, building a natural resistance to marks. This treatment does not guarantee against stains.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Avoid letting water stand on the surface of teak furniture.
- Natural temperature changes may cause slight movement. Fine cracks, knots and tonal variation are part of the timber’s natural character.
- Avoid placing it directly on carpets.
- Teak has an abundance of natural oils, making it durable and suitable for outdoor conditions.
Important to Note
Continued exposure to sun and rain will turn the timber a beautiful, silver-grey patina. This weathering process will happen quite quickly once the teak product is placed outside. However, within a couple of months, the timber should settle and stabilise.
