Embarking on a Design Odyssey
Travelling at Weylandts means finding true alignment with suppliers, creators, and craftsmen. It means fostering important relationships and connecting with people to create iconic interiors in unison.
Each destination is chosen with a specific purpose. When Chris and Anna travel, they seek not just the beauty of design but also the soulful connection with the people who inhabit spaces – cultivating relationships that stand the test of time. This journey showcases Weylandts’ commitment to bringing visionary designs to inspiring spaces.
Germany, Frankfurt
Chris and Anna curated bold fabric ranges in Frankfurt – creating interesting landscapes through texture, colour, and composition. A cold and damp city, Frankfurt still offered warmth and comfort with natural fibres and high-texture yarns.
India, Moradabad
Known for its longstanding history in brass casting and metalwork, the journey to Moradabad was slightly more taxing, but no less rewarding. Chris reflects on his time spent with artisans in chaotic streets as a part of their travels that challenged but also surpassed expectations.
“Working closely with local artisans to find the perfect finishes is always the highlight of our trips. For us, the beauty of a piece emerges through the connection we develop with fellow designers and craftsmen. It’s about sharing what’s possible and building something together – something that lasts a lifetime.”
- Chris Weylandt
India, Jaipur
One of Anna’s favourite places, Jaipur, is known colloquially as the land of marble in the Weylandts family. From finding interesting stone to walking through all-encompassing slabs of marble in the quarries, this leg of the tour always sparks excitement in the product development process. Dramatic markings and rich hues can be expected for the season ahead.
Saigon, Vietnam
A vibrant city, Chris and Anna travel to Vietnam for natural materials that tell the stories of the earth. Concrete and clay are key focuses for the new season, blending innovative design with versatile materials.
