Semi antiqued hemp Kilims are salvaged and revived through ancient hand-blocked motifs. Each piece is blocked by hand, so colour will vary slightly throughout the design.
Kendir Damgas are vintage hemp weavings used to dry fruits like grapes or apricots on the roofs of farms or in the squares of villages. Each woman decorates her kendir with a specific design to help her recognize it.
We collect them in different villages of Central Anatolia. We have them repaired, re-dyed, printed with the old Hittite method of block prints and brought to South Africa. They are hand printed using good quality aniline dye with hand carved wooden blocks.
