Most Bambara objects are headdresses, helmet masks or face masks, carved in an exaggerated naturalistic or partly abstracted styles. These masks are handled by men in the Bambara men’s associations, performing at funerals, agricultural ceremonies, and some initiation rites. Please note size mentioned is an approximate only.
